SEPTA service cuts began in late August and more cuts are set to come. Cyclists and sustainable transportation advocates (see 5th Square and Transit Forward Philadelphia) have teamed up in incredible ways in opposition of those cuts, but people across our region will inevitably be harmed. By my estimation, the only actors set to benefit from this situation are big tech rideshare platforms invariably based out west.

But here lies an opportunity. If you're reading this page, you know the countless benefits and simple joys of riding a bike. You likely have a friend or coworker who is looking for new options in a time of angst and uncertainty. There's no better time to encourage that friend to use a bike, recommend or accompany them to a local bike shop, or invite them to a ride. If they've never tried bikeshare before, pass along the $1 promo for a 30-day Indego pass embedded below and running all September.
